What will you be able to do once you are level 60? Some might say “ If you only used WaniKani you’ll be able to do basically nothing”. WK is an over-time approach that doesn’t really let you go on vacation. Why? You train your time management skills, your memory, and you can always put in extra time to catch up on your Japanese later on. ![]() Of course, you will get to keep the glorious levels and understand quite a bit. In the end, it’s all about how much you actually learn! It *can* be more efficient for some, but WK is far from over after level 60 and was not intended to be used this way. This is not meant as a quick way to learn Japanese. You can now level through WaniKani on a strict time budget. It delays WK by a second if you had an item wrong so you don’t accidentally skip checking the solution out by clicking too fast. One website that is highly praised for effective kanji learning in a short period is WaniKani, which is a paid (80 a year or 8 a month). Sadly there is currently no script that shows you if the current item is crucial for progress or maybe answered wrong initially. You can have 3 items not perfectly on time and still progress (90% of items) Legend has it that a handful of Chosen Ones were able to complete all 60 levels in a year. The first three of WaniKani’s 60 levels are free, then you can pay for monthly, annual, or lifetime access. Using a second tab, I check on this item the arrow points towards. WaniKani might not be solely responsible for that small success but it played a significant part. If you are short on time, you can skip vocabulary lessons with a trick showed below. Once progress items are done - radicals when starting a new level, Kanjis after finishing the radicals - do some lessons to unlock Kanjis. If you aren’t sure if WaniKani is asking for a Reading or a Meaning, there are quite a few ways to figure it out: Kanji ReadingĪnother hint to help you out: If we’re asking for the Reading for the kanji 口, and you try to type the answer “mouth” and it looks like “もうth” you’ll know it’s the wrong one! That might feel like a big omission, but think of it this way: WaniKani takes the most difficult thing for most students (kanji) and makes it easy. That means you need to be able to type, spell, and understand kanji and vocabulary words. The Meaning is the English definition of the kanji or vocabulary word.ĭuring your reviews, WaniKani will ask you to provide the readings and meanings for kanji and vocabulary separately. The Reading is the Japanese pronunciation of the kanji or vocabulary word. For starters, they have two parts to them: Readings and Meanings. Kanji and vocabulary work a little bit differently than radicals. You’ve gotten through the first batch of radicals and unlocked your first kanji.
